You may have noticed that Afterify is in a “beta” phase, but we’ve never gone into much detail about what exactly that means.

So today we want to share some of the reasons why we are in beta, how it affects our product and users, and our roadmap to full release.

A brief history.

Afterify was started in 2019 by Andrew Masat and Louise Jones — two aspiring entrepreneurs who love creating good user experiences in digital products. Today, it’s still just the two of us! Together we stay busy building the many great features and creative options Afterify has, as quickly as we can.

Being such a small team gives us a lot of awesome flexibility and control that larger companies aren’t able to have. However, it also means that we don’t have extensive resources so we get to wear many hats and carry every feature from inception all the way through to implementation.

What’s a beta?

For Afterify, beta means two key things. The first thing is that we are constantly doing updates and improving the experience of the application. There is no official release schedule and we don’t work in consistent iterations or planning cycles; we want to get new features out as soon as possible once they’re built.

What that means for you as a user is that you may see changes more frequently in Afterify than other sites or applications. It also means that despite our best efforts in testing before deploying, you may find a small bug or two along the way. Luckily we have our handy “Feedback” function built all across the site (in the bottom-right corner of the screen) which gives you a direct line to us for any support you need!

The second key part of our beta is our early-adopter pricing. Currently we offer one plan which gives you access to all the features of the app for the low price of $6 per month. We offer this lower price point because even though you can create robust websites and portfolios for clients, we know that sometimes those updates and bugs can be disruptive.

Our early-adopter pricing will end once the beta ends, but everyone who has joined before that date will get the discount for an entire year as our thanks for being one of the first users to support Afterify! What all will the beta include?

We have a vision for what we want Afterify to be at the launch of our first complete release, and an idea of how and when to get there as long as life allows us to keep the pace we’ve been moving. We’ve never taken an opportunity to share that vision with our users but would like to do that now so you know what you’ve got to look forward to!

Q4 2022

Release the Store

Sell print-on-demand prints of your photos through your Afterify website and client sites.

• Photos are printed and shipped by WHCC, a great industry leader known for high-quality products

• Products available at launch will include small-to-large format photo prints on Lustre, Glossy, and Deep Matte paper

• Create product sheets to customize different combinations of products and price-points, then assign product sheets to clients as you’d like

• All plan types can have a store, Free plans will have a 15% commission on sales and the Early Adopter Starter Plan will have no commission fees

Q1 2023

Quality of Life Improvements: Studio, Website Builder, Store

Once we have all three of the core applications released, we want to take a look at how things are fitting together holistically to make sure our users are getting a smooth and enjoyable experience using Afterify.

• Refining all settings pages and panels for consistency and ease of use

• Fine-tuning design elements and interactions

• Testing application performance and accessibility

• Streamlining workflows to improve efficiency

The last thing we want to accomplish before launch is another round of creative control updates to give you even more component settings, website styles, design options, etc.

What comes later?

After the first version of the full release is finished, you can anticipate more tools coming soon, as well as frequent additions of new design options and functionalities. We have a lot of ideas and are excited to continue growing our product offerings.
